Treasures of Italy: Milan, Florence, Siena, Assisi, Perugia and Rome

Departure is an exciting time for many travellers. It marks the beginning of an adventure. Today you will start to be part of a community, which will give you a rewarding travel experience. You will have the opportunity to turn a simple trip into an opportunity for personal growth, cultural enrichment, Globest welcomes you to MILAN. After your welcome at the airport, we will head towards the city centre to have some free time for lunch. In the afternoon, with a local guide we will visit the main monuments of the “capital of fashion”, finance and industry: the Sforzesco Castle (outside), the Cathedral (entrance included), the largest gothic cathedral in Italy and symbol of the city, made in white pink marble with its hundreds of spires and external statues, including the famous Madonnina, the Teatro alla Scala, one of the most famous opera houses in the world (outside). Accommodation in hotel area Piacenza or Parma, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast we will leave for Florence, a true open-air museum full of architectural masterpieces and works of art unique in the world, which extends into a green plain surrounded by hills dotted with cypresses and olive trees and crossed by the Arno, whose incomparable charm amazes, seduces and remains in the heart of all its visitors. After lunch in the restaurant, the afternoon will be dedicated to the guided tour of its beautiful historic center: Cathedral Square, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Cathedral, which dominates from its immense dome the roofs of the heart of the city, the exterior of the bell tower started by Giotto and adorned with white, green and pink marble, the bronze doors of the Baptistery, Piazza della Repubblica, the Ponte Vecchio and its famous goldsmiths and finally the Piazza della Signoria, heart of the Florentine social and political life since the fourteenth century with the imposing Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi. Breakfast at the hotel. Morning dedicated to the guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery (admission and reservation included), one of the most famous museums in the world that houses an extraordinary collection of ancient sculptures and paintings coming mostly from the private collection of the Medici family. Today, the halls are not only exhibited masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and works of the Florentine Renaissance, but also masters of the German, Flemish, Dutch and French tradition. Among the most famous works: The Spring and The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli; The Annunciation by Leonardo da Vinci (The reservation at the Uffizi is subject to availability and final confirmation of the museum). Free time for lunch to enjoy the city in complete freedom. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we will leave by bus for San Gimignano. Among the most beautiful villages of Tuscany, known as the city of 72 towers, San Gimignano is a land of culture, excellent food and good wine, a splendid postcard thanks to its location in the gentle hills of the Val d’Elsa, to its timeless beauty and its sky dotted with its characteristic medieval towers. TYPICAL lunch in the area of Siena. In the afternoon, we will continue to Siena, a beautiful city lying gently on the slopes of its hills, whose green tones blend harmoniously with the ochre «terra di Siena». A local guide will take us, in a maze of alleys and streets, to Piazza del Campo, one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, heart of the city and annual setting of the Palio race. We will also visit the Cathedral with its beautiful mosaic floor (entrance included). Return in the late afternoon to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Continuation to Chianciano Terme. Dinner and overnight.

After breakfast in the hotel, departure for Perugia, a city rich in history, art and culture ready to surprise us with its hidden treasures and its unique atmosphere. Guided tour of its historic center: Piazza IV Novembre masterpiece of medieval art and engineering dominated by the majestic Fontana Maggiore; the imposing Duomo di San Lorenzo; the Palazzo dei Priori one of the greatest examples of Italian Gothic architecture. After lunch we will continue to Assisi known as the city of San Francesco and Santa Chiara. Meeting with our local guide who will make us discover the historical center of this medieval jewel. Departure for Rome, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Day dedicated to the ETERNAL city: Rome. In the morning, we will meet our local guide for our first visit to the monuments of the capital. We will discover on foot the Ancient Rome: the Imperial Forums; the Roman Forum, the main square where people met to discuss business and politics; the Colosseum (admission and reservation fees included) and the Arch of Constantine. We will have lunch with local specialties. In the afternoon, thanks to a pleasant walk in the center, we will admire the jewels of “Baroque Rome”: the famous Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps with the famous staircase of Trinità dei Monti; the Trevi Fountain, the largest fountain in Rome, and one of the most famous in the world where you can express your desire to return to Rome by throwing a small coin in the water. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, always in the company of our local guide, we will leave for the visit of the Christian Rome. We will visit the Vatican Museums one of the largest collections of art in the world, the Sistine Chapel with the vault of the Last Judgment by Michelangelo, the majestic Basilica of San Pietro, considered the largest basilica in the world and the monumental Piazza San Pietro with the colonnade of Bernini. Admission and reservation fee included to the Vatican Museums (visit will be subject to availability and confirmation by the Museums).
Typical lunch, in the afternoon guided tour of the great basilicas such as San Giovanni in Laterano called “Mother of all the churches of the world” or San Paolo fuori le Mura, the largest patriarchal basilica in Rome after that of San Pietro in Vaticano and a catacomb with entrance included. Return to hotel; dinner and overnight.

On this day of return, nostalgia for the places visited and enthusiasm for returning home mix. After breakfast we will leave in the direction of the Tiburtini Mountains, to reach Tivoli and visit the Villa d’Este, wonderful renaissance villa, with its sumptuous, terraced gardens, fountains, nymphaeum, statues, caves, the water games and music that make up this masterpiece of art and nature (admission included). We will have lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon we will accompany you to the airport to help you with the boarding logistics. Today we close a chapter and open a new one, we will say goodbye, but you are part of our community, you will carry with you the promise of new future adventures even more extraordinary.
